In 1369 AH, King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, may he rest in peace, ordered the establishment of the College of Sharia in Mecca, making it the first higher education institution in the Kingdom. In 1401 AH, Umm Al-Qura University was established, which is considered one of the largest universities in Saudi Arabia in terms of student numbers and one of the most comprehensive and distinguished universities due to its location and heritage.
