Since the early days of the unification of the Kingdom and the establishment of the modern Saudi state by the founding King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, may he rest in peace, the Saudi government has prioritized public health and disease control. The organized health journey in the Kingdom began when King Abdulaziz, may he rest in peace, focused on public health, worked on its development, and pushed its growth forward. This coincided with his entry into Hijaz and the establishment of Mecca as the first capital for unifying the rest of the regions of the Kingdom. One of the most significant steps taken during that period was increasing cooperation with international organizations and seeking the expertise of highly efficient foreign professionals. This was to learn about developments in the sector and to strive to keep pace with them by localizing expertise and laying the foundation for a comprehensive healthcare sector that would later include all the vast regions of the Kingdom.
